Mathbook.  Absolutely incredible.  I wonder if he wrote it.

He already destroys his brother JoJo.

This reminds me of a lil rapper I once knew.

Good times.

Reebok got down with B.o.B. to do an exclusive remix of an 80’s or 90’s song for the release of the Classic Leather Wet shoes from the Remix Collection coming out this Thursday, May 21st.

I have no clue what the song is gonna be, but you have to buy a pair of shoes to find out.

Get it done.

April 30, 2009

I bought Glen E. Friedman’s Fuck You Heroes yesterday.  It’s in it’s fourth printing since 1994, with the photo quality just slightly revised.

From his work with the DogTown crew to Black Flag and Run DMC, Friedman encompasses everything that is hardcore.

Truly bodacious.

Peep his blog idealistpropaganda.

April 16, 2009

Peep the adventures of Talib Kweli Blak and the G-Pak crew in the premiere episode at MissionG.

This is the start of a new lunch break obsession.

Kris Kross 2009

April 13, 2009

We all love Kris Kross.

I stumbled upon this interview of Mac Daddy from a couple months ago.

I remember when they put out Young, Rich, & Dangerous and thinking, damn, these dudes are dope, but they’re too old.  That was a crushing day in my heart.

This is kinda crazy.

Rock The Bells

(White Stripes x Every Dope Rapper)/Adrian Champion = Stars And Stripes

March 31, 2009

I’m actually surprised no one has done this before with The White Stripes, especially after Danger Mouse put out the Grey Album.

I just downloaded it for free here and you should too.

I dig “Tha Countdown Blues” with Redman.

This definitely is something that everyone was thinking of doing, but just didn’t.

The Ecstatic

March 19, 2009

More Mos Def.

No relation to the above, but I just got a total urge to listen to Naughty By Nature.  Not that I hate ya. I hate ya.

Ok, I’ll stop.

Dr. Dre: Age 44

February 18, 2009

The first rap tape I ever bought was Kris Kross’s Totally Krossed Out.

Less than a year later I got my second rap tape, Dre Day as a single.

I definitely was still in my Kris Kross phase and figured all rap was probably not far off from what I was listening to, and I’d be jumping in my bedroom in no time.  So I walked into The Wherehouse wearing my backwards pants and backwards Darryl Strawberry jersey, and my older cousin grabs Dre Day and says “Listen to this only in your walkman”.

I got home, put the tape in, and I immediately got pretty scared.  When the song was done, I called my neighbor to come over and listen to this crazy shit I just got.  He came over, listened, and got freaked out too.  We must’ve listened to that song 50 times that day, rotating the headphones back and forth, laughing hysterically every time the word “fuck” came up.

I was ten.

Happy Birthday Dre, you changed my life.

MC Joaquin Phoenix: Letterman is a Funny Dude

February 12, 2009

A few posts back, it came out that a spokesperson for MC Joaq said that this stunt he’s pulling in dropping out of acting to become a rapper was an “art project” that the dude was documenting…in other words (and not mine) a hoax.

Last night on Letterman, he had actually very few words to say, but a lot of mumbling.

I don’t know what’s going on anymore, but this shit is highly interesting.

J Dilla

February 10, 2009

Remembering one of the hip hop’s greatests…

When Donuts first came out, I was sitting on a couch with a couple friends, playing  “Workinonit” on repeat as we proceeded to lose our minds. An incredible day in the LaRoushe Chronicles.

Peep this live performance of Jay Dee busting “Fuck the Police” in a wheelchair. Classic.

Paul’s Boutique (Part Deux)

December 30, 2008

Save the date!

January 27th 2009, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Beastie Boys’ Paul’s Boutique. The album is being reissued, totally remastered, and includes commentary g by Adrock, MCA, and Mike D about the making of each son.

In honor of this, let’s play a little game called “Dude, where’s my sample?” The winner will get a 1.75L of Duggans Irish Cream.

1. Where’s the guitar sample from in “Johnny Ryall”?

2. On “Shake Your Rump”, what song is the main drum fill from?

3. Where is the moaning coming from in “High Plains Drifter?”

4. Funkadelic’s “I bet you”….??

5. Where is the helicopter sound from The Beatles song “Back in USSR” located on Paul’s Boutique?

**Bonus Question**

Let’s keep it clean,

Why was I watching myself last night on the Carson Daly Show last night!?!?!?!? I have been working as a producer with the amazingly talented MC Asher Roth. He and I linked up about two years ago after some wack ass producer tried to pass on my music as one of his creations. Anyway, one thing led to another, we started working, and the rest is history! The video was shot at Amerycan Studios in North Hollywood and features me jumping up and down like a Douche Digglesworth. Click on the link below to peep! ( Wordpress wouldn’t let me host this video, super wack sauce) –Yoel
