Danny Hoch is Taking Over LA

Theater Review Taking Over

Over the weekend, I saw Danny Hoch perform his new one man show Taking OverAbout 2 months ago I saw his movie Jails, Hospitals, and Hip Hop, and became an instant fan.

Honestly, this man is one of the most talented and unique individuals I’ve ever come across, and when you experience him live, it’s a whole nother world.

Danny is a hardcore New York native, born in Queens, who has lived in Brooklyn for 20 years.  Taking Over is about his views on the gentrification going on particularly in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.  He plays the roles of characters ranging from a hipster selling vintage clothes on Bedford Ave to an old Black woman who’s been in the neighborhood all her life, seeing it transform from the crack epidemic to a thriving art and business scene.

A true modern day genius in my opinion.  He’ll be rockin at the Kirk Douglass Theatre in Culver City for one more week til the 22nd.

If you have 1 hr and 40 minutes, go see this.
